The Last Outpost is 'n 7-dag begeleide 4x4-ekspedisie langs die Weskus, van Atlantis Dunes tot by die afgeleë kus noord van Strandfontein.
Elke dag beweeg die konvooi verder noord, deur wit duine, vissersdorpe, wynlande en oop grondpaaie. Jy ry in jou eie 4x4 saam met maks 10 voertuie, met radio's, 'n begeleier en 'n roete wat net soveel tyd vir avontuur gee as vir rus.

Day 1
Dunes and Drifts
Atlantis Dunes → Yzerfontein
The expedition kicks off with an adrenaline rush at Atlantis Dunes, where you’ll master sand driving techniques under expert guidance—perfect for beginners and seasoned off-roaders alike. After conquering the rolling white dunes, the convoy winds north to Yzerfontein, a coastal gem where the day ends with a braai or fresh seafood as the sun dips into the Atlantic. Sleep in a seaside lodge, lulled by the sound of waves.
Day 2
Saltwater Bounty
West Coast National Park → St Helena Bay
Morning unfolds in the West Coast National Park, where flamingos wade in Kraalbaai's turquoise lagoon and fynbos scents the air. At Saldanha Bay, board a boat to harvest mussels straight from the icy Atlantic, then feast on them with crusty bread and local sparkling wine at a waterside table. The convoy rolls north at golden hour, tracing the coast to St Helena Bay, where your lodge overlooks the bay's evening glass-off.
Day 3
Saltwater Bounty
West Coast National Park → St Helena Bay → Paternoster
The day begins with a guided boat ride on St Helena Bay, where the cold Atlantic swells roll in and seabirds skim the waves. After working up an appetite, the convoy moves to Paternoster, a whitewashed fishing village where you'll savor local coffee and seafood fresh from the boats. Later, the route winds to Cape Columbine and Tietiesbaai—where you'll watch the sun sink into the ocean from camp chairs, with a braai crackling and West Coast wine in hand.
Day 4
River, Gin & the Open Coast
West Coast National Park → Elands Bay
The day starts in Velddrif, where the salty air carries stories of fishermen along Bokkomlaan. You'll learn how wind-dried mullet (bokkoms) shaped this town, then browse small shops lining the Berg River. At Port Owen Marina, craft beer and locally distilled gin pair with laid-back waterfront dining. The afternoon unfolds along the coast: Dwarskersbos reveals wild beaches accessed by sandy tracks, your 4x4 tires biting into the shoreline route. As the sun drops, Elands Bay's cliffs glow amber—your lodge sits just above the waves, where the sound of breaking surf lulls you to sleep.
Day 5
From Seabirds to Rooibos
Lambert's Bay → Clanwilliam
The morning starts with the cacophony of Bird Island, where thousands of gannets nest on guano-covered rocks just offshore. Watch fishing boats unload their catch in Lambert's Bay's working harbor before a lunch of fresh snoek and calamari at a beachside grill. Afternoon tracks inland through golden wheat fields, climbing into the Cederberg foothills where the air smells of wild rosemary. Sleep in rooftop tents by Clanwilliam Dam, brewing rooibos tea over coals as the water turns copper at sunset.
Day 6
Olifants River Valley to Doringbaai
Lambert's Bay → Strandfontein
The convoy winds through the Olifants River Valley, passing vineyards, farm roads, and rooibos fields. Stop for a local wine tasting amid the dry, rugged landscape. In Doringbaai, a seafood feast awaits—fresh catches paired with West Coast wines, the ocean shimmering beyond. As the sun dips into the Atlantic, continue to Strandfontein, where chalets and campsites perch above the waves.
Day 7
The Road Ends at the Ocean
Lambert's Bay → Strandfontein
The convoy leaves the last coastal towns behind, tracing faint tracks north of Strandfontein where the road dissolves into beach and dune. At the Olifants River mouth, flamingos wade in the estuary while coastal fynbos scrapes against bakkie doors. The final 4x4 route runs through untouched shoreline, stopping only when the Atlantic blocks all forward progress. Vehicles park facing the water—no human structures in sight, just seven days of dust settling on hoods as the group shares a silent toast to the edge of the continent.
